ELEMENTS OF ART:
Line: Something resembling a traced line, as a band of color, a seam,or a furrow
Shape: The quality of a distinct object or body in having an externalsurface or outline of specific form or figure.
Color: The quality of an object or substance with respect to lightreflected by the object, usually determined visually by measurement of hue, saturation, and brightness of the reflectedlight; saturation or chroma; hue.
Value (tone): Lightness, brightness or value of a patch in a photograph: dark tones correspond to shadows, light tones correspond to bright or highlight areas.
Form: External appearance of a clearly defined area, as distinguishedfrom color or material; configuration
Texture: The characteristic visual and tactile quality of the surface of a work of art resulting from the way in which the materialsare used.
Space: The designed and structured surface of a picture
PRINCIPLES OF DESIGN:
Balance: As a basic principle of art (specifically of design), the definition of balance refers to the ways in which the elements (lines, shapes, colors, textures, etc.) of a piece are arranged.
Contrast: Opposition or juxtaposition of different forms, lines, or colors ina work of art to intensify each element's properties and producea more dynamic expressiveness.
Emphasis: Prominence, as of form or outline
Movement: Abundance of events or incidents.
Pattern: A decorative design, as for wallpaper, china, or textile fabrics,etc.
Rhythm: A patterned repetition of a motif, formal element,etc., at regular or irregular intervals in the same or a modified form.
Unity: A whole or totality as combining all its parts into one.
